A number of Exlar® products have Class 1 Certification. They are available with Class I, Division 1 or Class I, Division 2 certifications for use in hazardous locations. Electrical equipment that is installed in these locations must be designed and tested to ensure that it will not initiate an explosion due to arcing or high surface temperature. Please visit the CSA Group website for more information about testing & certification of equipment used in hazardous locations across North America.
Class 1 Certification
Class I Division 1
Under this classification, a hazardous location is defined as an environment where concentrations of flammable gasses, vapors, or liquids exist all of the time or some of the time under normal operating conditions.
Class I Division 2
Under this classification, a hazardous location is defined as an environment where concentrations of flammable gasses, vapors, or liquids are not likely to exist under normal operating conditions.
Exlar products with either of these classification options offer the same high level of performance as our standard products, but offer the added protection of Class I certification.
