Job Openings

Assembler – 1st Shift

Primary Objective of Position:

  • Assembles products and assists the Production Lead and Senior Assembler in the assembly of products and completion of day-to-day activities and work tasks.
  • Under close supervision uses process procedures, assembly drawings, schematics, wiring lists, and written and verbal instructions to assemble actuators and other related Exlar products to meet and exceed customer expectations. Assignments are well defined. Receives detailed instructions on new assignments.
  • Understands and follows procedures, work instructions, specifications and other requirements (incl. actuator model mask designation) as applicable to assigned work cell/area.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Uses hand or power tools, manufacturing machines and test equipment utilizing appropriate gauging and tooling to adjust the equipment while applying judgment to assure conformance to specifications. Performs standard setups. Completes documentation of process data accurately including test data and non-conformances. Has general working knowledge of product assembly and functionality. Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are standard and straightforward. Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions (incl. drawings or diagrams).
  2. Competent in primary assigned area(s). Possesses some cross-training among other operations.
  3. Identifies and communicates assembly issues as opportunities occur. Follows documented product/process deviations as required.
  4. Follows quality requirements – quality assurance standards, processes, and controls. Identifies and communicates occurrences of non-compliance / non-conformance; may have input on recommendation for solution. Performs component and limited modular rework and repair.
  5. Actively participates in process and quality improvement activities.
  6. Keeps work area clean and organized.
  7. Performs material handling functions, may include IFS data entry.
  8. Open to assisting others and doing work beyond primary assigned responsibilities when needed/assigned.

CNC Machinist / Programmer, Lathe – 2nd Shift

This is a 2nd Shift position working Monday – Thursday, 3 pm – 1:30 am.

Primary Objective of Position:

Consistently produce excellent quality parts using correct processes while meeting time standards and minimizing scrap. Assist in initiating cost reductions by exploring different means of material removal whether through tooling or programming techniques.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Program, set-up and operate CNC machines.
  2. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining components.
  3. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  4. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and any specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  5. Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
  6. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
  7. Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  8. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances, if not already defined.
  9. Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders.
  10. Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
  11. Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
  12. Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
  13. Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts.
  14. Program computers or electronic instruments, such as numerically controlled machine tools.
  15. Work with engineering on quality relating to machine capabilities, tooling and fixtures.
  16. Provide feedback to engineering on machine performance as it relates to process improvements.
  17. Work with engineering on possible new machines to enhance quality and quantity improvements for parts produced.

Education and Experience:

  • Trade school degree in CNC machining and at least two years of experience or a minimum of five years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to program and run a multi-axis CNC controlled mill, lathe or grinder.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their basic design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of basic geometry and trigonometry and their applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.

Quality Specialist

This individual will operate and maintain core quality systems and assist Quality Engineering with containment, investigative and improvement efforts.

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Process transactions in core quality systems including supplier nonconformance notifications, return of defective purchased product, requests for deviation and customer complaints.
  • Compile performance data and create reports.
  • Assist Quality Engineering with containment, investigative and improvement projects.
  • Assist Supplier Quality Engineering with assessments of new and existing suppliers and participate in supplier performance improvement efforts.
  • Perform system and process audits.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and organization skills and be extremely detail oriented. This person must also be able to prioritize work load within provided guidelines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel, is required. Experience with inventory tracking systems is desired. An Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
